An Act authorizing the state retirement board to retire Jamie J. Magarian, a uniformed member of the Department of State Police at the regular rate of compensation

This bill authorizes the Massachusetts State Retirement Board to retire Jamie J. Magarian, a State Police officer who is permanently unable to work due to injuries sustained in March 2018. Under the legislation, Magarian will receive a pension equal to his full regular salary until he turns 65 or passes away, along with coverage for all future medical expenses related to his service-connected injuries. Additionally, the act provides a lump-sum payment of his accumulated retirement deductions and establishes a survivor annuity for his spouse equal to 75% of his pension if he dies while retired. All benefits are administered by the state retirement board in accordance with existing state laws and remain non-taxable to the extent allowed.
