S 772 Massachusetts Senate · 193rd Legislature (2023-2024)

An Act to continue enhanced Medicaid hospital payments

This bill directs the state to provide an additional 5% payment to eligible acute care hospitals based on their recent Medicaid revenue. To qualify, a hospital must be non-profit or municipal, serve a patient population that is at least 60% public payers, and operate independently of large hospital chains with significant assets. The enhanced funds are designed to supplement existing payments and cannot be used to reduce current Medicaid reimbursements. The legislation also allows the state to set conditions to ensure these payments can be reimbursed by the federal government.
