An Act providing the next of kin of a police officer or firefighter killed in the line of duty with the flags of the Commonwealth and the United States
This bill amends Massachusetts law to provide the next of kin of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty with both a Commonwealth and a United States flag. The flags are intended for use during memorial services, and the state would cover the cost of providing them. The law applies to sworn city or town police officers, state police officers, and city or town firefighters who die while performing their duties or from injuries sustained during such work.
