S 157 Massachusetts Senate · 193rd Legislature (2023-2024)

An Act relative to happy hour in the Commonwealth

This bill allows Massachusetts cities and towns to legally permit "happy hour" discounts on alcoholic beverages sold on the premises. It requires local municipalities to vote on whether to adopt the law before it takes effect in their area. If approved, licensed establishments must post notices of these discounts at least three days in advance and cannot offer them between 10 p.m. and closing time. The legislation also prohibits changing the price of drinks during the discounted period.
