An Act providing access to patient protection services for MassHealth consumers

This bill expands access to patient protection services for individuals covered by MassHealth, the state's Medicaid program. It mandates that these consumers, along with their contracted health plans and administrators, receive the same standards and procedures currently available to other patients under specific state health laws. The Office of Patient Protection will be responsible for administering and enforcing these new requirements, while state health officials are directed to seek federal waivers to remove any legal barriers to implementation.
