An Act relative to the prevention of unemployment fraud

This bill establishes a special commission to study and report on policies aimed at preventing unemployment fraud in Massachusetts. The eight-member commission will include leaders from the state legislature, the Department of Unemployment Assistance, the state auditor, and the attorney general, with the secretary of labor and workforce development serving as chair. Their primary tasks involve reviewing current anti-fraud measures, analyzing data from the COVID-19 pandemic, and recommending new strategies to stop future fraudulent claims. The commission is required to submit its final findings and recommendations to the legislature by December 31, 2021.
