An Act relative to emergency water management plans

This bill requires water suppliers in Massachusetts to annually share summaries of their emergency response plans with the municipalities they serve and the Department of Environmental Protection. While these summaries must include details on contingency planning and resources, the law explicitly protects sensitive information that could compromise public safety or reveal proprietary data. Additionally, the bill mandates that water companies provide municipalities with copies of statistical reports and consumer confidence reports. Finally, it directs the Department of Environmental Protection to create rules within 180 days that would allow water suppliers to offer financial relief, such as bill credits or direct payments, to customers who experience water outages lasting longer than 48 hours.
