An Act ensuring student representation, Aidan's law
This bill, known as Aidan's Law, requires public high schools and charter schools in Massachusetts to establish student advisory committees. Each committee must consist of five students elected by their respective student body and meet at least once every other month during the school year. The student chairperson serves as a nonvoting member of the school board or charter school trustee board and cannot attend executive sessions unless specifically allowed. Additionally, schools are permitted to hire a student outreach coordinator to help set up these committees and keep students informed about school agendas.
