An Act exempting the office of chief of police in the city of Worcester from the civil service law

This bill removes the Worcester Police Chief from the protections and requirements of the state's civil service law. Under the new rules, the city manager would appoint the Chief rather than a civil service board, and a former Chief could temporarily step down to return to their previous job if they leave the role.
