Amendment H.4948
This bill allows the town of Canton to transfer specific land parcels currently held for conservation and water supply purposes to the town's select board. These lands, located in the neighboring town of Stoughton, will be granted as permanent easements to the state to support highway improvements on Route 138. In exchange for these transfers, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation must provide funding equal to at least 110 percent of the land's fair market value. The town is then required to use these funds within three years to purchase replacement land that offers equal or greater natural resource value and acreage.
