An Act relative to the examination of evidence rooms and evidentiary procedures

This bill creates a special legislative commission to study how Massachusetts law enforcement collects, stores, and manages evidence. The commission will consist of 15 members representing various legal, law enforcement, and legislative interests. Its main tasks include reviewing current laws and procedures for handling evidence, investigating the possibility of building a single statewide storage facility, and consulting with experts on security and training. By March 31, 2025, the commission must submit a report to state leaders with its findings and recommendations for improving evidence management systems.
