An Act requiring one fair wage

This bill amends Massachusetts law to increase the minimum cash wage that employers must pay to tipped employees, raising the floor from $6.75 to $10.95 over several years. Under the new rules, an employer's cash wage cannot be lower than the specified amount, and any shortfall between that base wage and the standard minimum wage must be made up by the employee's tips. The legislation applies to all tipped workers, provided they are informed of the change and retain their own tips, while still allowing tip pooling among staff who regularly receive gratuities.
