H 1372 Massachusetts House · 193rd Legislature (2023-2024)

An Act relative to homeowner assets

This bill directs the Massachusetts Housing Appeals Committee to create a process for homeowners who bought properties through the Homeowner Opportunity Program at least thirty years ago to request the removal of deed riders. These deed riders currently restrict how these homes can be sold, often preventing them from being sold at fair market value. If approved, the committee would negotiate with eligible property owners to lift these restrictions, allowing them to sell their homes without the limitations. The legislation requires the committee to launch this application process by June 1, 2023.
