TRANSPORTATION DEPT: Establishes the Louisiana Highway Construction Authority (OR INCREASE GF EX See Note)

HB 621 establishes the Office of Louisiana Highway Construction within the office of the governor, Division of Administration. This new office is responsible for the study, planning, design, construction, and maintenance of nonfederal aid highways within the state's highway system. It is empowered to enter contracts, accept grants, develop cost-sharing agreements, and work with other government entities to achieve its goals. An executive director, appointed by the governor, will manage the office's operations and budget. The office must also submit an annual report to the Joint Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works detailing its projects and progress.
