FLOODS/FLOODING: Creates the Comite River Diversion Canal/Amite River Basin Task Force.

This bill creates the Comite River Diversion Canal/Amite River Basin Task Force to study how to finish the Comite River Diversion Project and reduce flooding in East Baton Rouge, Livingston, and Ascension Parishes. The task force will examine steps needed to complete the canal, acquire land, and plan flood mitigation while keeping the public informed. Members include elected officials, state agency leaders, and representatives from local industries, who must submit their recommendations to the legislature by February 2025. The group will operate without pay and will end once it submits its report or by April 2025, whichever comes first.
