PUBLIC CONTRACTS: To urge and request the La. Dept. of Transportation and Development to study best practices for letting of public contracts to disadvantaged business entities and to report recommendations for legislative changes to implement such best practices no later than December 15, 2024 (EN NO IMPACT See Note)
This resolution asks the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to examine how current state laws regarding contracts with disadvantaged businesses might differ from federal best practices. The department is tasked with identifying any conflicts and developing recommendations for new legislation to align state rules with federal standards by December 15, 2024. These findings will be shared with the House Appropriations and Senate Finance committees to guide future policy changes. The bill does not immediately alter existing laws but initiates a review process to ensure consistency in how public contracts are awarded.
