INSURANCE/GROUP-SHERIFFS: Provides relative to the Bossier Parish Retired Employees Insurance Fund

The bill requires that at least twenty-five percent of the fund's investments be placed in fixed-income securities, with a majority of those rated as investment grade. Earnings from these investments can only be used to pay insurance premiums for retired sheriffs and deputies or cover legal fees for the fund's board, but only after the fifteen million dollar target is reached. Until that financial goal is met, the fund's principal and earnings cannot be withdrawn or appropriated for other uses.
