LAW ENFORCE/OFFICERS: Provides for the certification by the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training of the New Orleans inspector general and his investigators

This bill allows the New Orleans Office of Inspector General and its investigators to carry firearms while performing their official duties. To qualify, these officials must annually demonstrate proficiency in firearm use through certification by the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training and provide proof of this qualification. The legislation also requires them to maintain valid identification as retired law enforcement officers.
