FORESTRY: Provides relative to timber harvesting operations

This bill requires anyone planning to harvest five acres or more of timber to sign a written contract with the landowner or their representative. To enforce this rule, the state's agriculture and forestry commissioner must create specific regulations and can issue civil fines of up to $5,000 for each day a violation occurs. Penalties can only be applied after a formal hearing, and the law applies to all timber harvesting operations intended to cut that amount of land or more.
