AN ACT relating to physician assistants. Amend KRS 311.856 and 311.858 to permit a physician assistant to prescribe or dispense all legend drugs and Schedule II through V controlled substances to the extent delegated by the supervising physician; permit a physician assistant to sign for and distribute professional samples of drugs; require physician assistants authorized to prescribe drugs to register with the DEA, KASPER, the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, and any applicable state-controlled substance regulatory authority; require a physician assistant, prior to prescribing controlled substances, to complete an application signed by the supervising physician and submit to the Board of Medical Licensure for approval or denial within 30 days; mandate that dispensing activities of a physician assistant comply with state and federal law and to only occur in an emergency; amend KRS 218A.010 to add physician assistants to the definition of a "practitioner."
