When such a declaration is made, it activates state disaster plans and grants the governor authority to use state resources, reassign personnel, and coordinate assistance from local and federal agencies. The declaration can last up to 15 days and may be extended by the legislative coordinating council for up to 150 days, with provisions expiring on July 1, 2027.
