MINOR
The bill was finalized from its engrossed version to the enrolled version, incorporating minor formatting adjustments and clarifying legal definitions to ensure consistency with federal law. These changes refine how specific terms like 'covered entity' and 'contract pharmacy' are defined, removing references to repealed acts and ensuring the state's reporting framework aligns strictly with current federal statutes.
Scope change
The scope of applicability remains focused on Illinois hospitals and clinics participating in the federal 340B Drug Discount Program, with no changes to the program's fundamental purpose or the entities it covers.
DEFINITION
The definition of '340B covered entity' was updated to remove a reference to the Patient Access to Pharmacy Protection Act, which has since been repealed, ensuring the definition relies solely on current federal law.
The definition of '340B contract pharmacy' was expanded to explicitly include any pharmacy under contract to dispense drugs on behalf of a covered entity, clarifying the scope of who qualifies.
TECHNICAL
Minor formatting and spacing adjustments were made throughout the text to standardize the layout and correct typographical inconsistencies.
