MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY DAY

This bill designates September 7, 2024, as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Day in Illinois to highlight the condition that affects approximately one in every 5,000 male births. The resolution acknowledges the current lack of a cure and the importance of increased research funding and early diagnosis through newborn screening to improve health outcomes for those living with the disease. Additionally, the bill directs that copies of the resolution be presented to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy to recognize their efforts in addressing the condition.
