Informing the Legislature that on May 30, 2025, the Governor signed the following bill into law: SB1300 SD1 HD1 CD1 (ACT 139).

SB1300 (enacted as Act 139) expands free school meal access in Hawaii public schools. Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, students currently eligible for reduced-price lunches will receive free meals. Starting in 2026-2027, all students from families with incomes up to 300% of the federal poverty level will qualify for free meals, regardless of federal program eligibility. The law appropriates $565,000 for fiscal years 2025-26 and 2026-27 to fund these subsidies.
