Informing the Legislature that on May 14, 2025, the Governor signed the following bill into law: SB1443 SD1 HD1 (ACT 050).

SB1443 (now law as ACT 050) sets payment rules for medical care and long-term care services provided to patients in Hawaii state hospitals and other psychiatric facilities under the Department of Health's custody. It caps medical care payments at the lower of the Hawaii Medicaid fee schedule or the provider's billed amount. The bill also allows the Department to establish rates for long-term care services for patients discharged to long-term care facilities from these hospitals. Additionally, it exempts the Department from standard procurement rules (Chapter 103F) when purchasing these specific medical and long-term care services.
