GM 1140 Hawaii Senate · 2024 Regular Session

Informing the Legislature that on May 30, 2024, the Governor signed the following bill into law: HB2685 HD2 SD1 CD1 (ACT 040).

This bill establishes a new Solar Hui Program in Hawaii to help multi-family residential property owners invest in solar energy projects for their buildings. The program creates a dedicated investment fund that allows property owners to put money into a pool, which is then used to install solar systems in low- and moderate-income households or other qualifying energy projects. A designated fund manager will oversee the program, market it to property owners, and select contractors, while the state provides an initial appropriation to start the initiative.
