Added a new definition for 'maternal mental health screening' requiring use of independent, evidence-based instruments that follow nationally recognized clinical practice guidelines developed by independent organizations or medical professional societies.

Removed specific mandatory screening timing requirements that previously required initial screening at first prenatal visit, follow-up screening at second or third trimester, and specific postpartum screenings at six weeks, three months, six months, and 12 months.

Changed the coverage requirement language from mandatory coverage of specific screenings to coverage of 'medically necessary' maternal mental health screenings during the prenatal period and 12 months postpartum.

Added a new provision stating that the Code section applies to all insurance policies, contracts, and certificates executed, delivered, issued for delivery, continued, or renewed in the state on or after January 1, 2026.
