Electroconvulsive Therapy; performed only by physicians; require

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to health, so as to require that electroconvulsive therapy be performed only by physicians; to provide for definitions; to prohibit the use of electroconvulsive therapy on persons who are less than 16 years of age and on certain other individuals in certain circumstances; to require informed, written consent prior to the performance of electroconvulsive therapy on an individual; to provide for physician reports on the use of electroconvulsive therapy; to provide for public reporting of the use of electroconvulsive therapy; to provide for rules and regulations; to provide for criminal penalties; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
