Business Licensing Reform and Accountancy Practice Emergency Amendment Act of 2026

This bill updates several rules for business licenses and accountancy practices in the District of Columbia. It requires the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection to give neighborhood commissions 30 days' notice before issuing licenses for entertainment venues like theaters and dance halls. The law also allows motor clubs that offer private towing services to operate without a specific storage lot, introduces 4-year business licenses, and creates a process for refunding fees that were mistakenly collected. Additionally, it changes accounting licensure requirements to allow candidates with a bachelor's degree and two years of experience to become licensed if they pass an exam, while giving the Mayor flexibility to set extra rules for out-of-state applicants.
