Ward 8 Middle School Athletic Shoe Access Act of 2024

This bill creates a program to provide free athletic shoes to first-year middle school athletes in Ward 8's public and charter schools. The Department of Park and Recreation will manage the initiative by partnering with local businesses and nonprofits to fund and distribute footwear before the start of each sports season. Students must register to receive a pair of shoes selected from available options that suit various sports, and the department will report annually on how many students were served.
