Residential Tranquility Emergency Amendment Act of 2024

This emergency bill strengthens the Residential Tranquility Act by banning the use of sound amplifying devices to target homes during demonstrations from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. in residential areas and making it illegal to ignore police orders to stop such activities. It also adds a new offense prohibiting anyone from throwing projectiles at another person's residence with the intent to cause fear, intimidate, or retaliate, punishable by a fine or up to 90 days in jail. Additionally, the legislation sets a specific expiration date of December 7th for Council appointments to the Corrections Information Council. The entire act is set to remain in effect for no more than 90 days after approval.
