DC Circulator Transition Temporary Amendment Act of 2024
This bill requires the Mayor to get Council approval before making any changes to the DC Circulator's budget and directs money from selling or leasing Circulator assets into a special fund. That fund must be used to support current and former Circulator workers with wages, bonuses, or severance, while limiting administrative costs to 10% of those deposits. Additionally, the District Department of Transportation must work with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to explore options for taking over the Circulator, offering alternative bus routes, or rehiring displaced workers with their existing pay and seniority. The law is temporary and will expire 225 days after it takes effect.
