Virtual Open Meetings Authority Extension Temporary Amendment Act of 2024
This bill temporarily amends the District of Columbia's Open Meetings Act to allow government meetings to be considered open to the public if they are conducted virtually. Under the new rules, a meeting is deemed open if the public body takes reasonable steps to let people watch or listen live, or if technology fails, as soon as it is reasonably possible afterward. The law applies to all public bodies required to hold open meetings and remains in effect for 225 days after it is approved.
