Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permit Requirement Temporary Amendment Act of 2024

This bill temporarily amends the District of Columbia's Autonomous Vehicle Act to require a testing permit for driverless vehicles on local roadways. Until such permits are available, companies testing autonomous cars must have a human operator ready to take control and must submit a detailed electronic notice to the Department of Transportation at least 10 business days in advance. The required notice must include information about the number of vehicles, their specific models, operator credentials, testing locations, and the duration of the operations. This measure is set to expire 225 days after it takes effect.
