Medical Cannabis License Clarification Temporary Amendment Act of 2024

This temporary bill clarifies rules for medical cannabis licenses in Washington, D.C., affecting local neighborhood groups, applicants, and the regulatory board. It allows any neighborhood commission within 600 feet of a proposed site to protest an application and gives the board authority to extend public comment periods by up to 30 days. The legislation also establishes a new 400-foot minimum distance between all cannabis retailers and clarifies that licenses issued to previously unlicensed businesses count toward the 50% social equity quota. Additionally, it sets specific deadlines for unlicensed establishments to obtain their licenses and stop operating without them, while providing a mechanism for extensions if applicants are making reasonable progress toward reopening.
