Ballpark Budget and Maintenance Amendment Act of 2023
This bill amends existing laws to create a new Ballpark Preservation and Improvement Fund dedicated to maintaining Robert F. Kennedy Stadium and supporting the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. The legislation clarifies that money from the current Ballpark Revenue Fund should be used to pay for stadium maintenance and repairs starting in fiscal year 2025, but only after the Washington Convention and Sports Authority has exhausted its own available funds. Additionally, the bill establishes rules for the new fund, specifying that it will receive future ballpark sales tax revenue and rent, while prohibiting the use of these funds to secure additional bonds. Once the stadium's revenue bonds are paid off, any remaining money from the old fund will automatically transfer to this new preservation fund, which will be managed by the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.
